Student Life at ISTA
Getting involved in extracurricular activities such as sports, subject-based student groups and social clubs or volunteering are great ways to meet new people and develop your skills and knowledge.
Sports
Indoor and outdoor sport facilities will make it easy for you to stay in good shape.
Sport facilities include:
- Outdoor multi-use courts (soccer, volleyball, badminton, etc.)
- Fitness suite
- Tennis court (the local tennis club OBSV Maria Gugging is located on campus)
Ping-pong tables and table soccer tables can be found in several shared areas of the campus.

Highlight: ISTA Sustainability Group
The ISTA Sustainability Group is composed of students, researchers and staff whose aim is to raise awareness about climate change and other environmental issues, exchange knowledge and ideas, and promote sustainability at the individual and collective level. The group has weekly meetings. Individual time commitment and project choice is very flexible! Graduate Student Association
You can also get involved in ISTA’s vibrant Graduate Students community by joining the Graduate Student Association (GSA).
The GSA promotes communication between students and fosters a dynamic campus environment. The GSA also serves as an interface between all graduate students and the ISTA faculty and administration.
